Dragonfly nymphs:

  • Dragonfly nymphs are aquatic, and can be found in streams, rivers, ponds, lakes, and wetlands.

  • They live in areas where water is slow-moving or still.

  • They are likely to be found under rocks and wood.

  • Most dragonfly nymphs are green and about 2.5 inches long from my prior knowledge

  • Once nymphs emerge from the water to hatch hatching can take hours nights and days to be completed

  •  The first thing that leaves the skin of the nymph is the thorax then the head, compressed wings, legs, and portions of the abdomen

  • Once the hemoglobin is pumped into the wings it is now known as a tenerals a freshly hatched dragonfly which are pale and soft and known as unidentifiable

Common Green Darner: Most of the common green darners are seen at the Lily pool,South pond, and Diversey harbor. Most likely any spot we visit or study we will encounter or view a common green darner. Common green darners like to catch and eat insects on the wing and known as aerial hunters thanks to their speed, eyesight, and strong jaws.`

Black Saddlebag: The black saddlebag is the most frequently mating species in our opinion like all the time. But they are not so difficult to catch. A

unique feature that can be noticeable depending on the black saddlebag is a two edge spots on the end of their abdomens.

Blue Dasher: Blue dashers are common in North America and the Bahamas but one odd thing is there a scientific name which means long wings but their wing are not larger than those of the related species so why give them that name?

Eastern Amberwing: Eastern amberwings are just difficult to catch because they are so small and agile and stay close to any body of water they are near no matter what and they may not seem smart because there might be predators in the water but since they are so small and fast they can evade as much as they need to.

Twelve Spotted Skimmer: The twelve spotted skimmer does not like to share its territory at all it is a selfish dragonfly even when scared and pushed away from its position by predators or other twelve spotted skimmers it still comes back which shows that it is a stubborn dragonfly. A funny characteristic is that the female twelve spotted skimmer strikes the surface of the water with the tip of her abdomen when laying eggs while in flight.

Widow Skimmer: Big and slow I did not know. The widow skimmer is a big and slow dragonfly and look nothing alike but they have no problem telling the difference between each other as we would
